Mark, Demetri and Stanford are leave some sort of meeting and while Mark insists that he remembers something clearly, Stan tells him to keep his mouth shut. Dem and Stan get into a car and Mark calls someone (maybe Olivia?) to say that even though the trip was a bust, Stan may have accomplished something. A van smashes into their car and three men exit the van with guns and blow the car up.

39 hours earlier, Vreede is briefing Mark and Dem about a Senate hearing. Demetri gets called in and denies seeing anything, but the aide thinks he lied in his affidavit. Mark, meanwhile, is playing with his sobriety chip.

Mark and Vreede are recounting their flashes while hooked up to a polygraph and it seems like Vreede was in the building, along with Mark.

Outside, Mark calls Aaron to see how things are going back home. Olivia comes outside and hears Aaron tell Mark to go to an AA meeting in DC.

Dem is walking with Vreede while carrying a box of documents. Dem reveals that Stan is worried the government will pull the funding for their investigation into the blackout.

Cut to Stan, who’s playing basketball (Dave) with an old friend. Dave tells Stan not to worry about the congressional funding. Stan says their Mosaic investigation is paying off and they are starting to piece together what April 29 will look like. Dave reveals that Congressman Clemente will be chairing the hearing and Stan isn’t happy to hear that.

Janis is practicing martial arts in a dojo and manages to knock down her sparring partner. After the fight the guy asks her out to a concert, but she shoots him down.

Back at the office Janis gets a flash drive from Al, who says it contains 18 years of satellite photos of Somalia, courtesy of the CIA. Janis tells an assistant she wants to investigate more about the blackout in 1991.

Stan, Dem and Vreede are attending a press conference by the president (oh ho! The president happens to be the “Dave” that Stan was playing basketball with). The press are asking questions about the government’s response to the blackout. As he leaves, one reporter asks the president why he hasn’t revealed what he saw in his flash, but the president says that most world leaders aren’t revealing that information. We, however, see the president in bed in his flash. A secret service agent comes in to say something has happened.

Back home, Aaron is asking Olivia about how Mark’s trip is going. Olivia asks Aaron whether Mark is having a problem with his drinking. She’s worried that the travel and stress of this case will cause Mark to drink again.

Stan’s visiting with the president in the oval office. The president promises to help Stan out and apologizes he couldn’t bring Stan into his staff when he took office. The president offers Stan the position of Director of Homeland Security. Stan says Clemente will likely block his appointment, but the president tells him to consider it.

Janis is on a date and we learn that she’s a lesbian. The woman reveals that in her flash she was wearing a wedding band, while Janis doesn’t admit that she was pregnant.

Senator Clemente is chairing the hearing. Various members of the government are giving their suspicions on the cause of the blackout. CIA Director Keller says he thinks that China did it to attack America.

Outside the hearing room Joyce Clemente comes to talk to Stan. She asks Stan how he sleeps at night “knowing what [he] did to that woman”. She wonders whether his wife knows about it. Clemente says she’s going to bury Stan and reveals that she saw herself as president in her flash. And she thinks Mosaic is a joke.

Stan is now testifying about the Mosaic project in the hearing. He and Clemente spar verbally about the merits of the project and she suggests they hear from Mark since he saw his investigation in his flash.

We learn that Janis’ girlfriend’s name is Maya and the two of them are making breakfast the morning after their date. There’s much lesbian kissing and then Janis leaves for work. They make plans to attend an art show.

Mark is giving testimony to the congressional hearing. He reveals that two people were awake during the blackout and that a whole whack of crows died (as they did in 1991). One of the other senators wonders why the LA office has done its own investigation without getting approval from the head office. Mark explains more about his case board and what he saw in his flash, including the gunmen. Clemente is disbelieving.

Janis goes to talk with the assistant and Al about the satellite imagery and they find something weird. They see towers (or pylons) out in the middle of nowhere.

Clemente reveals that she has the results of Mark’s polygraph test and wonders why he has only revealed about 30 seconds of his flash. She wonders why everything in his flash was hazy (because he was drinking). Mark gets sassy and Clemente responds in kind, but Stan gets up and leaves in a huff.

Vreede, Mark and Dem leave the meeting and wonder where Stan is. Dem admits that their investigation sounds weird and Janis gives the boys a call to have them take a look at the satellite photos. The photo was taken five months before the incident in Somalia. No one can figure out what the towers are.

Stan calls Janis to ask her for a favor. Later that night Janis meets up with Maya at the gallery. Maya asks Janis if she also dates guys, but Janis says she doesn’t. She admits that she looked up Janis on the Mosaic website and says she knows Janis will be pregnant in her flash. Maya wonders if it will be “their” baby, but Janis is just freaking out. She breaks up with Maya and leaves.

Stan goes to meet a woman named Reene, who has a young boy. Stan greets and hugs the boy.

Later, Stan is meeting with the president again and hands him a photo of him with a woman. Stan reminds the president that he gave Reene the money to pay her off, but she didn’t go far. I suspect that the president had an affair with this woman and the young boy is his son. The president makes a remark that Stan really does like to play dirty and Stan tells the president to stop Clemente from cutting off their funding. After Stan leaves, the president calls someone to “take care of a problem”.

Vreede is in a bar with Dem and Mark, singing karaoke. Mark suggests Dem cut back on the booze, but Dem just wants to blow off steam before his impending death. He then jumps up on stage to sing with Vreede as Stan comes by to sit with Mark. Mark is pissed that Stan left him in the hearings and Stan retorts that Mark was a lousy witness. They take their argument over to the bar and Stan asks why Mark can’t remember his entire flash and Mark reveals that he was drunk.

At home, Olivia is trying to activate her new alarm system and gets a mysterious text message that says Mark was drinking his flash forward.

Now we’re back at the beginning, with Dem, Vreede, Mark and Stan getting into their car. We also learn on a news channel that the Vice President died in the blackout and now the president has nominated Clemente to be his new VP.

Janis is walking home with groceries and we see that Mark called her to say that Mosaic got its funding. The crash happens, the men get out of the car and raise their guns. The car explodes and Janis gets attacked in the street. She manages to knock one man down but gets shot by a second attacker. Meanwhile, the boys are still alive in DC and start firing back against the crazy bastards who tried to kill them. Two of the gunmen drive off after the boys manage to kill two others. Meanwhile, Janis is bleeding on the street. Lots and lots of blood.
