as Mark Benford
Born in Salisbury, England in 1970, Fiennes grew up in Ireland and is actually an eighth cousin to the Prince of Wales. His brother, Ralph Fiennes, is also a movie star. Fiennes began his acting career in the theatre, and once shared the stage opposite Helen Mirren. After working for the Royal Shakespeare Company for two seasons, Fiennes appeared in his first feature film, Stealing Beauty with Liv Tyler, in 1996. 1998 was a good year for Fiennes, as he appeared in two movies that were nominated for Academy Awards: Elizabeth, where he starred opposite Cate Blanchet, and Shakespeare in Love, where he starred opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, which won the Best Picture Award that year. After his success in 1998, Fiennes chose to return to the theatre and seems to prefer the stage to starring in movies. However, he has appeared in over 25 movies, including Running with Scissors, The Merchant of Venice, The Great Raid and Enemy at the Gates.
Fiennes plays Mark Benford in FlashForward, an FBI agent who is also a former alcoholic. Married to Olivia Benford, they have a daughter named Charlie. After the flash, Mark is part of a team of FBI who try to determine the cause of the worldwide phenomenon.
